Valmarine

L-3 Valmarine is a major supplier of automation and navigation systems to advanced vessels worldwide. The cruise vessel market is the core business and the company is a market leader for ship automation in this segment. In general, the systems are designed with a high degree of automation and safety, enabling the company also to be present on both LNG and offshore vessels.

The company employs 100 people and is headquartered in Norway, with a branch office in Finland and cooperation partners in Italy, France, Singapore, China and Korea. L-3 Communications, located in the US, is the principal owner and L-3 Valmarine is a part of the Power and Control System Group.

John Weierud
President and CEO

After technical high school, John started his career in the Norwegian Navy and joined L-3 Valmarine in 1991. He has served in various positions in L-3 Valmarine`s Technical and Service departments and acted from 1996 as Service Manager with responsibility for Customer support to L-3 Valmarine`s more than 600 installations. In 2003 he joined the Sales department with responsibility for upgrades and refit sales and later also responsible for world wide new building marketing and sales. In 2005 he was appointed President for L-3 Valmarine, and is now heading a team of more than 100 specialists for Automation and Navigation systems. The L-3 Valmarine Head office is in Drammen, Norway.
